Different mannerism...

Enough moaning about the airplanes and turbulence!I will be OK, I just have to drink a few before boarding and then a few more on the plane. ;)

Yep, I am well back from work now, it is infact friday and weekend is starting. I had a nice time last night, got some really salty pizza from the corner take away, few cold beers and Bob's your uncle! The use of the salt and sugar here in Chile is unbelievable. Any food you order from restaurants or any other establishment, prepare yourself to drink gallons of water or any other liquid, soon after devouring your tasty meal. If we think finnish are bad with salt, sugar and fat, then visit Chile to get a total turnover on your diet...

Chile is a great country, it has a lovely nature and countryside and people are very friendly and helpful. In England people are very polite( most of the time anyway), think of a shopping trip to Tesco for example, you're cruising around with your shopping trolley in the shop in the busiest time of the day. You bump into someone by accident on the aisle where you can find the Marmite."Oh, I'm sorry!"I mutter briefly to this gentleman, who smiles at me and says "It's ok, it's a bit busy here at the moment." I continue to choose the right size jar of Marmite. You either love it or hate it.
Well, here in Chile they're busying about, bouncing into you with a trolley, basket, or any other physical object like their own bodies being hurled at you in a slow motioned speed. People don't rush here anywhere and they don't apologise for bumping into you. They hardly notice you were there to be bounced at. Sounds a bit mad, doesn't it? But having lived in UK for nearly 6 years, you can't but notice this. In Finland there is perhaps a bit better chance to get an apology for crashing into you in where ever...?

Oh well, all the things you pay attention to! I am sure there are many more culture bound things to be found out. I have only scratched the surfice of this great country and I am ready and willing to dig deeper.

Long live great adventures, take the chance while and when you can!

Tataa for now!

Hello from the south side of the world!

Here we are, in this narrow and fiery country, where potatoes are eaten in all various forms.
It was a long and very bumpy journey from France and over the Atlantic Ocean, turbulence and I don't get on very well! I have to say, that it was the worst flight I have ever had, I hope on my way back home to Finland, the air will be my friend and not my enemy. It is the fact, that when I can't be in charge of the situation (meaning flying the plane),it is very difficult for me to relax, especially when we're 10km high up in the air and only an ocean underneath to catch me if I fall.

Yep, this is the point I am seriously thinking of hopping on the ship and coming home about 1 month later than I would if I'd use a plane. :)

So there. I will write more, when I am back home from work.

Cheerio for now!

Tuesday 22 June 2010

Here I am back again in good old green island of UK. I had a lovely time back home in Finland seeing my family and friends. Time went by so fast, had loads to do at the farm, mainly making sure that there is enough of wood in the shed for the winter for my parents. My fellow "farmer" did a good job on chopping those big chunks of wood, I would have not managed and done it myself! So big thanks to him!

I had a great weekend in Llanynys Wales, where our friends Shaun& Carolyn got married on saturday. The sun was shining and it was a great do all in all with live Irish band playing, a whole roasted hog, loads of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages to consume and a jolly bunch of people to talk and dance with. On sunday we decided to drive around before heading home and ended up on this lovely Medieval Abbey called Valle Crucis. It was founded on 1201 and is located in Llantysilio, Denbigshire in North Wales. Here's some photos of the place, will post some more in Flickr later on.

I am planning my journey to Chile.Today I am going to the shops in Manchester centre with my friend, and try and get some necessary items that are missing from my bags. It should be fun, since it is a lovely day, nice and sunny and warm.
I will try and post some updates on how I'm doing, but it will be some time after 30.6. since I don't know if we have the internet connection up and running in the house to be in Chile. In the meanwhile I'm busy with learning spanish, packing, meeting friends in Wales and in England and all sorts of general running around.

Hope you are all well and catch you soon!

Sunny greetings from England!

Novel

Just to continue the novel I've started here's another bit of it. :)

He feels hollow, not empty, but so overwhelmed with thoughts that are running around like mad march hares in his head. "God, I wish I had a cigarrette, even though I don't smoke." He murmurs to himself while pacing down that last hill. At least I am able to climb better these stingy little hills not having smoky lungs... he thinks. He tightens his grip on his rucksack and slows down. It's been a while since he has been there. It has been a long time, or at least it feels like thousand years.
Behind that hill is a lovely little valley, a little stream running through it, more oak trees, ashes and hedges, very lushious indeed in the summer time. He gets off from the road and into a path way right next to the little river. It is awfully muddy, but his walking boots are meant for stomping about and he couldn't care less of it anyway, after all he loves the countryside. "Can't believe how much I've missed this!" He says aloud and has a wide grin on his flustered face.
There, there it is, the house! "Oh no... I can't go...I want to...I have to!" He stops as if he'd been struck by a lightning. He can hear her whistling. " The dogs!" man bursts out loud, smile still twitching his lips, "She still has got the dogs!"

And this is direct continuation for the previous post "Novel". I shall see, where it leads me, I am writing more when ever I can and feel like the story is speaking to me. :)

Have fun!

Novel

One drop amongst the millions that has fallen down and wasted away the dust that winter has sown, landed to the lanes of this quiet little place. Stranger walking past the church yard looking even stranger on his long, grey over coat, felt hat and a rucksack lazily popping on his right shoulder. There is a church, hidden behind the hedges, small, grey and sturdy looking old building, stones upon one another, laid there many hundred years ago. The man stops, turns to look at it, scratches his head the hat now on his hand, revealing his golden hair, that looks to be curling under this rainy day. He tries the gate towards the church, but does not enter. "Not this time, not now, later" he thinks. He goes down a small hill, leading towards another one in distance. And behind that hill, he thinks...and sets on walking, stubborny, pushing against the now drizlier rain. Oak trees are standing barren, it is late spring, still the first daffodilss are out, brightening the road sides with their yellow blooming.

This is a little bit of the novel, it is only at the very start of it. Just to practise and probs there a few grammar mistakes there as well, but hey, this is the way learning as well. ;-)

To be continued...

Firs time Blogging

Dear readers,

This is my first time ever blogging. I do not know, if and when I can get my writing flowing, but I will spend some time learning how to. :) Right, I have been thinking of posting some of my thoughts about my travels, photography, exploration of life and love and all sorts. So plenty to follow.
Also, I have started to write a little novel, we shall see later on how it turns out, I will post some snippets out in here for you to read and to comment on.

Having a good glass of red wine here, Cahors French wine, I love my old world wines. ;)

So I shall go now and have a look upon this and learn how to do it. I do hope I can entertain you as much as I am amusing myself. :)

See you later,

Cheers!
